WireCache SQL Analyzer

The WireCache SQL Analyzer is a multi-step tool that provides deep insight into the characteristics of the SQL interaction between applications and databases.

The first step is a passive and unintrusive collection of Ethernet traffic between applications and the database during a significant business period. The traffic can be collected via a mirrored port by either a WireCache Appliance, or a local computer. The captured traffic is parsed into a report that analyzes every SQL interaction during the period. It shows every SQL statement that executed and aggregate information about the characteristics of all instances of that particular query. This report typically provides fresh insight into database behavior that is otherwise difficult to obtain. By cross-referencing this report with the database schema, the WireCache tool is able to create a cache plan and estimate what fraction of the database load could be taken up by a WireCache Appliance. WireCache engineers can use that information to size an appropriate WireCache Appliance for the task and provide an estimate of application acceleration.
