Many applications require large batch reporting runs. Examples include check printing, invoicing, end of quarter reporting, etc. These operations are normally run in relatively quiet periods, such as evenings and weekends, because the batch programs interfere with operational applications.
But often, as business expands, reporting time also expands. It can become difficult to run the batch reports within the available time window. And running them during normal business hours has a negative impact on operational performance
